Excavating Laborer

A Patriot Excavating Laborer is a critical role specializing in excavation services for projects such as digging trenches, foundations, or site preperation

Job Responsibilities

1. Site Preparation: Assist in the preparation of excavation sites by clearing debris, vegetation, and obstacles to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.

2. Excavation Operations: Operate various hand and power tools, such as shovels, pickaxes, and jackhammers, to excavate and remove soil, rock, or debris as directed by the supervisor or equipment operator.

3. Safety Compliance: Adhere to safety guidelines and regulations at all times, including wearing appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) and maintaining a vigilant awareness of job site hazards. 

4. Trenching: Assist in the digging of trenches, ensuring that they are the required depth and width while preventing cave-ins and soil collapses.

5. Material Handling: Transport and load/unload materials, equipment, and tools as needed, often using heavy machinery like skid-steers or forklifts.

6. Maintenance: Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of equipment and tools to ensure their proper functioning and longevity.

7. Teamwork: Collaborate with other team members, including equipment operators, construction workers, and supervisors, to achieve project objectives efficiently and safely.

8. Quality Control: Ensure that excavation work is carried out with precision and meets project specifications, which may involve checking the slope, grade, and depth of trenches.

9. Communication: Communicate effectively with team members and supervisors to receive instructions, report progress, and identify any issues or safety concerns.

10. Problem Solving: Assist in resolving on-site challenges and adapting to changing project requirements.

Qualifications

1. Physical Fitness: Excavating laborers need to be physically fit and capable of performing physically demanding tasks for extended periods, including lifting heavy objects and working in various weather conditions.

2. Safety Awareness: A strong commitment to safety, including knowledge of construction and excavation safety regulations and practices.

3. Teamwork: Ability to work well as part of a team and follow instructions from supervisors and equipment operators.

4. Adaptability: Willingness to adapt to changing project needs and an ability to solve problems on the job.
